The Department of Defense (DoD) protects the United States through two missions that are interrelated to each other. They are homeland defense and civil support. Homeland defense protects the citizens and the homeland from threats such as terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, and cybercrimes (Rector, 2021). Civil support is providing aid to other federal agencies in responding to disasters, emergencies, and special events.
